The Botanical POD or The Strange Land of Kitchentable

Every month, Lisa and I exchange a piece of paper that has something to do with a chosen theme, in this case botany.  Then we make some art with it.  We call it the point of departure or POD.   On the left you can see that Lisa gave me part of a cell phone advertisement.  I really liked the simple leaf shape and thought I knew what I wanted to do.  Later, I realized that having such a great form to start out can be a disadvantage.   I didn't want to change the leaf but I also didn't want to end up with another Clearnet ad.  With the clock ticking, I came up with the the collage on the left.   For some strange reason, everything I look at closely turns into a strange little country.   I've had this problem all my life.  The bookcase becomes an apartment complex, the melting ice becomes an ice palace... the kitchen table becomes...a strange land.  I probably shouldn't have mentioned it because once you start thinking like this,  you can't stop!  At least it helped me finish my POD!

"The Kitchen Table" was just what I needed to see today (my day hasn't been too grand). It's alive and beautiful and friendly, the best part is "friendly". It doesn't hurt that green is my favourite colour. You have a kind and loving soul and it shows in this piece. I'm glad that I happened by your blog today.
